The qualificationfor the Euro 2010 was finished ,16 participants for the Men´s Handball European Championship with takes place is Austria from19to31 January are fixed.

The participants are Sweden, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Iceland, Norway, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Slovenia, France, Czech Republic, Spain, Austria (host nation), Denmark(European Champion) and Ukraine.

Group A: Croatia, Rusia, Norway, Ukraine
Group B: Denmark, Iceland, Austria, Serbia
Group C: Germany, Sweden, Poland ,Slovenia
Group D: France, Spain, Hungary , Czech Republic

Universiade 2009 will be organised in Belgrade

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) has announced that the realisation of the Universiade 2009 in Belgrade is saved.

A delegation of FISU was in the Belgrade to talk with the partly reorganised local organising committees about solutions for the cancellation by the Serbian state. Due to the worldwide financial crisis the government has clearly reduced its primary assurances. The Universade start with an austerity programme, concerning also the sports. Instead of 21 there will be only 15 sports and the handball tournaments were cancelled and will be organised at a very high level although the budget is four times smaller than originally planned.
General Director of Universiade 2009 Zoran Jovanovic informed the committee that 86 people are involved in the organisation of this largest ever student sporting event, adding that the construction of the university village is going as planned.
Around 10,000 volunteers are ready to join

Ivano Balic has problems

Ivano Balic is not well, he can play with medications but he has problems with his back.

The best player of the world has a problem with his disc that is pressed the nerve,he is doing physical therapy but all goes slowly. The problem is if Balic will need surgery, that mean that the croatian player will miss the Champions league, qualifying matches for European Championship 2010 in Austria and in the end World Championship in Croatia.

Chile replaces Cuba for 2009 World Championships

Chile handball Federation website celebrates that Chile will be in the 2009 Men´s World Championships in Croatia. The Chilean notice also indicates that Chile will be playing in Group B, the same group that Cuba had been drawn into.

2011 World Championships Awarded to Sweden

International Handball Federation council awarded the 2011 Men´s World Championship to Sweden.

All the delegations had the opportunity to present their bid in front of the IHF Council before the awarding being executed but is Sweden who finally was choosen.
According to a Danish news report the vote was 7 votes for Sweden, 3 votes for Denmark, 2 votes for Spain and no votes for Hungary.

The Council officially accepted the increased number of participating teams in Youth and Junior World Championships. The decision-makers are confident this new rule would also guarantee a higher quality and position of these title contests.

Robert Hedin is the new coach of men´s national team of Norway

Robert Hedin is the coach of german club Melsungen MT and now he has an additional task.

Swedish coach is the men´s national team coach of Norway. Norwegian Handball association was thinking in Hedin and Serdarusic for the job but at the end Hedin has signed a two year contract.
Gunnar Pettersen was the last national team coach and he had not succeeded to qualify Norway for the Olympics , Norwegian handball Association had time for take a decision.
